Scenic Spring Walking Trails in Southern Maine
Spring is a very *interesting* season. The weather fluctuates regularly, which can cause some really messy hiking conditions in the mountains. While i’m waiting for hiking trails to get sorted out, I like to shake things up by exploring local walking trails during the months of April and May and I encourage you to do the same! So without further ado, here are some scenic walking trails that you can add to your list for this Spring!
Sebago Lake Land Reserve
Hiking Family-Friendly Bradbury Mountain in Pownal, Maine
Located just ten minutes away from Freeport in Bradbury Mountain State Park, Bradbury Mountain is beloved by both locals and tourists for its wide, gentle sloping trails that provide hikers with a leisurely hiking experience. The family-friendly trails and fantastic summit views make for a great day spent outdoors.
Hiking Bald Pate Mountain Preserve in the Sebago Lakes Region of Maine
Located NorthWest of Sebago Lake, Bald Pate Preserve is home to a 6.7-mile trail network that offers numerous trail options for summiting Bald Pate Mountain that range from easy to moderate. Each trail offers a unique view of surrounding mountains, ponds, and lakes. The summit of Bald Pate Mountain provides several views of the Sebago Lake region.
Libby River Preserve Trails in Scarborough Maine
Libby River Preserve in Scarborough Maine is such a unique outdoor destination; this 90-acre preserve is home to open fields, wetlands, an observation deck, an abundance of birds, and fantastic views of the Libby River and Scarborough Marsh. Horton Woods Wildlife Preserve in Saco Maine is one of my favorite trail networks in Southern Maine—and for good reason! This 100-acre preserve is home to dense forest, marshes, streams, wetlands, fields, and so much more! It’s the perfect spot to bring the kids and dog to unwind and connect with nature.
